📋 Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha – Momella Gate to Miriakamba Hut

Duration: ~5-6 hours | Distance: 10 km | Elevation: 1,500m → 2,514m

  • Morning:
    Pick-up from your hotel in Arusha and transfer to Momella Gate. Complete park registration, then set off on a guided hike through lush rainforests and grassland with possible sightings of giraffes, buffalo, and antelope.

  • Evening:
    Dinner and overnight at Miriakamba Hut (2,514m).


Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

Duration: ~3-4 hours | Distance: 4 km | Elevation: 2,514m → 3,566m

  • Morning:
    Steady climb up steep forest trails into moorland. Reach Saddle Hut by lunch.

  • Afternoon:
    Optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru Peak (3,820m) for amazing sunset views of Kilimanjaro.

  • Evening:
    Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut.


Day 3: Summit Day – Socialist Peak and Return to Saddle Hut

Duration: ~10-12 hours | Distance: 7 km up, 7 km down | Elevation: 3,566m → 4,566m → 3,566m

  • Midnight Start:
    Begin your summit push under starry skies, climbing via Rhino Point and Cobra Point. Reach Socialist Peak (4,566m) just before sunrise for epic views across the Rift Valley and Kilimanjaro.

  • Late Morning:
    Descend back to Saddle Hut for a well-earned brunch and some rest.

  • Evening:
    Dinner and overnight at Saddle Hut.


Day 4: Saddle Hut – Miriakamba Hut – Momella Gate – Arusha

Duration: ~3-5 hours trekking | Distance: 10 km | Elevation Loss: 3,566m → 1,500m

  • Morning:
    Descend back down through montane forest to Miriakamba Hut and continue onward to Momella Gate.

  • Afternoon:
    Transfer to your hotel in Arusha to celebrate your accomplishment!
