The flight from Zanzibar departing 07:00 am – on arrival meet & greet. You will participate in a full day game drive in Selous Game Reserve. Africa’s largest wildlife sanctuary, with an area of 54.600kms – bigger than Denmark and 4 times the size of Serengeti! Selous has the world’s largest number of large game animals – elephant, buffalo, and rhino. It also contains wildebeest, eland, giraffe, waterbuck, zebra, impala, hippo, leopard and lion, not to mention over 350 species of birds. Overnight at the Nyerere Tented Camp – lunch & dinner included.

After your first night in Selous, awake early to a dawn chorus and spectacular views from your room (“banda”). After a quick cup of tea or coffee, head into the reserve as dawn breaks for a full day game drive in a specially modified safari vehicle with a professional guide. You should see and learn much about a large number of animals, including all the great favourites—lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo, zebra—and all the other major species including the now rare African hunting dogs. You’ll also see a great variety of bird species, wonderful scenery, with varied topography: wetlands, dry grassland, light acacia forest and higher ground with long views to far-off mountains. Enjoy a packed lunch and have some time to rest. Your guide will select a location with shade and water nearby to watch animals coming to drink—a place with a clear view all round so that no predator can creep up unseen! You’ll be back to the lodge by 6.30 pm for sunset and dinner when you’re ready. Dinner and overnight at the Nyerere Tented Camp. All meals included.

After breakfast, you will take part in an afternoon boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. Where you can see plenty of hippos, crocodiles and bird life. Then proceed with walking safari with Bushman (outside the park) – after lunch, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar.
